Department for Children, Schools and Families (East Midlands) Hundreds of East Midlands young people to get involved in Open Weekend 10 – 11 July 2009

Published: Thu, 09 Jul 2009 10:35:20

Dance, rap, rock climbing and outdoor sports are just a few of the activities on offer to young people in the East Midlands for free on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July as part of Open Weekend, a major drive by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to ensure young people have access to things to do when they most want and need them.

Open Weekend is a key milestone for local authorities and their partners to work together to improve positive activities for young people making sure there are things to do for young people on Friday and Saturday nights, the time young people and communities say they need them the most. Under the DCSF’s Aiming High strategy almost £30 million has been made available to young people in the East Midlands between 2008 and 2011.
