Leicester City Council was announced on October 14 as one of the third round of winning Future Jobs Fund (FJF) bidders.

Published: Thu, 15 Oct 2009 15:42:45

The bid, on behalf of the Leicester and Leicestershire Economic Partnership will create over 1,000 jobs across the county, ranging from youth workers to sports apprentices. There will also be a variety of ‘green’ jobs including gardening maintenance.

Minister for the East Midlands Phil Hope said:

“My priority as Regional Minister is to see the East Midlands emerge from the global recession stronger than ever, so I am delighted with today’s announcement that the Leicester and Leicestershire Future Jobs Fund bid was successful".

This is part of the ‘Backing Young Britain’ campaign – to create thousands of opportunities for young people. All the Future Job Fund jobs will be advertised by Jobcentre Plus.
