GOEM works with the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) to support delivery of its Enterprise and Manufacturing strategies in the region. In particular, we influence local and regional partners to ensure they promote innovation, enterprise, productivity and skills through their strategies and delivery plans. We provide local and regional information on a regular basis to BERR on the current conditions for businesses in the East Midlands and intelligence on the concerns of businesses from all sectors.
We work with the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) in its lead role providing support to all busineesses through the Business Link Service. This service provides a wide range of support to businesses of all sizes and is the single gateway in the region for free and impartial information, advice and access to grants and further support. GOEM also supports emda's on-going programme of simplifying business support as part of Government's new Solutions for Business package.
GOEM is part of the Employment Skills and Productivity (esp) partnership in the region, which supports the Regional Economic Strategy for the East Midlands, 'A Flourishing Region'. Our roles as a partner include ensuring that regional and local activity is aligned to Government priorities, helping to clearly communicate national policy and influencing ongoing national policy development.
