The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) champions good quality service for tourists, from both the UK and overseas. The Department encourages and helps the tourism industry to improve what it has to offer, with Government Offices supporting tourism initiatives to maintain the health of the tourism industry in each region.

Tourism Strategy
In the East Midlands, emda has prepared a Tourism Strategy to provide a blueprint for the industry through to 2010.
The East Midlands Tourism Strategy entitled Destination East Midlands steers development of the industry in the region. Its publication follows an extensive consultation with the tourism industry in the region, including private sector operators, local authorities and regional organisations that have tourism as part of their agenda.
East Midlands Tourism including representatives of Destination Management Partnerships and commercial sector has now been established as a strategic body for the region.
VisitBritain
VisitBritain is funded by government to build the value of tourism by creating world-class destination brands and marketing campaigns.
It will also build partnerships with, and provide insights to, other organisations that have a stake in British and English tourism.
