Heritage
English Heritage is funded by government to ensure that the historic
environment of England is properly maintained and cared for.
The English Heritage aims to help people understand and appreciate why
the historic buildings and landscapes around them matter, by working
through nine regional offices and employing some of the country's very best
architects, archaeologists and historians.
English Heritage wants every important historic site to get the care and
attention it deserves, from the first traces of civilisation to the most
significant buildings of the 20th century.
The East Midlands Heritage Forum brings together a range of interests
including the National Trust, Historic Houses Association, Association of
Conservation Officers, Association of Local Government Archaeology
Officers, Local History Societies and others.
Museums, Libraries and Archives
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) is funded by government
as the national development agency working for and on behalf of museums,
libraries and archives and advising government on policy and priorities for
the sector.
MLA's key activities are to provide strategic leadership, to act as a
powerful advocate, to develop capacity and to promote innovation and
change. In the East Midlands, MLA’s responsibilities are delivered
through the MLA East Midlands.
MLA East Midlands is the regional strategic body and development agency for
museum, library and archive organisations and its role is to facilitate the
sector's development across the region through leadership, advocacy,
advice, exemplar projects and service delivery.
